Your career at a glance

Prior to my current position at Google, I held the role of Head of Networks & Managed Services Delivery at Ericsson, overseeing operations in 15 countries within the South East Mediterranean Customer Unit. Before that, I was based in Amsterdam as part of VEON's leadership team, serving as Global Director of Quality and Best Practice. In this capacity, I was responsible for leading the development of the Customer Experience vision and ensuring the quality of service for VEON's 250 million customers across 11 countries on three continents.

My professional journey also includes a 20-year tenure at Telecom Italia Group, where I held various Technology leadership positions. During this time, I gained extensive experience in network design, planning, governance, and operation from field, regional, and headquarters perspectives. As TIM embarked on global expansion, I was entrusted with overseas assignments, including greenfield network design and deployment in Turkey and a regional planning and performance leadership role in South America.

“Memoirs of a Dutiful Daughter”, an autobiography in which Simone de Beauvoir delves into her past and into herself in a surgical, relentless, and ultimately liberating way. She dismantles the family, religion, politics, and the way of life of the French upper class in order to build herself and make her own existence a unique and unrepeatable adventure. I recommend this book to anyone who feels doubt about their working, intellectual, or sentimental life.

What childhood passion have you lost in adulthood?

I have kept all my childhood passions.

Which passion or pastime will you never let go of?

Traveling in remote and wild areas is a passion that I could never imagine letting go of. I embark on journeys to lose myself in the world, only to discover more about who I truly am.

Your dream of a completely different second career?

If I were to pursue an entirely different second career, my dream would be to become a teacher in South East Asia.

The biggest obstacles to career growth in our industry?

The primary impediments to career advancement within our industry include gender stereotypes, unconscious bias, unequal access to sponsorship, as well as the impact of personal family decisions and external societal pressures.

Your biggest obstacles facing the technology industry?

The most significant challenges encountered within the technology industry often revolve around structural obstacles. These include the struggle to secure high-profile and visible assignments and the need to establish connections within influential networks, while also fostering valuable sponsor relationships.

What have you gotten noticed for throughout your career?

Throughout my career, I have garnered recognition for my sense of duty, steadfast commitment to strong values, as well as my exceptional track record in delivery and decision-making capabilities.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I find most enjoyable about my job is witnessing the satisfaction of our customers, the motivation of my collaborators, and their journey of growth and advancement.

Pursue your passions, never stop learning, believe in yourself, do not be afraid to make mistakes and never compromise your values.

As a leader, the skills that have proven most valuable to me include the ability to listen to the unspoken, and to address what others may choose to overlook or avoid.

It's not the technology itself, but what people can do with it, which is how they can improve their lives.

Cloud computing is a key technology that drives many businesses today. It is the on-demand delivery of computing resources, such as servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence, over the internet (“the cloud”). Cloud computing eliminates the need for enterprises to procure, configure, or manage resources themselves. It’s flexible, it’s efficient, it offers strategic value, it’s secure, it's cost-effective.

What is technology for you?

Technology is what gives everyone the tools they need to increase their knowledge, health, happiness, and success.

What are your views on future technology trends?

I believe that we are on the cusp of a new era of innovation that will transform the way we live and work, driven by trends such as: Powerful Cloud Platforms, AI, GenAI, ML, Quantum Computing, AI Trust-Risk and Security Management and Sustainable Technology.

In your opinion, what is the greatest technological invention and why?

In my opinion, the greatest technological invention is the Printing Press because it made knowledge a common and widespread good and no longer an elitist one.

Can technology do good for society, or would it be better off without it? Explain.

When used responsibly, technology can do a lot for humanity. Technology makes it easier than ever to communicate with people all over the world, it can be used to create more engaging and effective learning experiences, it has revolutionized health care, it can help us to reduce our environmental impact and create a more sustainable future. Technology can help to bridge the digital divide and give everyone the opportunity to participate in society. Technology brings unity to the world by turning it into a global village which in turn has helped people more easily overcome their cultural, racial and continental barriers.

How do you keep your technology skills up to date?

Staying up-to-date on the latest tech trends can be challenging, but I am committed to it. I read tech news and blogs every day, and I try to attend conferences and meetups whenever possible. I am also fortunate to work at Google, which offers a wide range of internal training sessions and workshops on a variety of technical topics. These sessions are typically led by experts in the field, and they can be a great way to learn new skills and stay ahead of the curve.

Explain which online tools facilitate your job?

Workspace. It seamlessly integrates all of the core elements of work, like email, chat, voice and video calling, document collaboration, storage, task management, security tools, and admin controls so I can connect, create and collaborate, easily and securely, from wherever I am.

My favourite website is Google News, because it allows me to stay up-to-date on current events from around the world.

Your favourite and least favourite technology products?

My favourite technology product is my smartphone when I need it for work, to stay connected with my loved ones, or to complete other important tasks.
My least favourite technology product is my smartphone when I use it out of boredom or without a real need to be connected.

Does success compensate for value or morality?

Success is intrinsically linked to morality and integrity. "The greatness of my morality is proportional to my success."

What is the relationship between the mind and the body?

Dualism or physicalism? I definitely believe in mindfulness. The relationship between the mind and body is a complex and fascinating one. It is a two-way street, with our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours all having an impact on our physical health, and vice versa.
